The two types of people
I’ve always told myself that there are two types of people in this world.
- The givers
- The takers
The givers are constantly fulfilling everyone else’s needs above their own. It’s never about them and the people in their life needs always seem to supersede their own. You help whenever the benefits to others exceed the personal costs or you might not think of personal cost at all.
You do for others without expecting anything in return. Simply strive to be generous in sharing your time, energy, knowledge, skills, ideas, and connections with other people who can benefit from them.
The takers like to get more than they give. They put their own interests ahead of others. They feel that to succeed, they need to be better than others. To prove their competence, they self-promote and make sure they get plenty of credit for their efforts.
Sometimes there’s a constant battle to be better or do better. You have to look at what you have and what you can do instead of what you don’t or can’t. Life is not always going to be straightforward. There are curves, speed bumps and roadblocks. We must believe in ourselves enough to get through each obstacle with courage to conquer them.
People can inspire you or drain you. You can be a giver or taker but you must choose wisely because each one has it’s own downfall and benefits.
